Description

After being abandoned by their Nazi parents at the end of World War II, five German siblings embark on a harrowing journey across their war-torn country. Led by the eldest, 14 year-old Lore, the children are forced to confront their parents' actions and the reality of the new world in which they find themselves. When the group encounters the mysterious Thomas, a Jewish refugee, Lore finds herself torn by conflicting emotions - her innate contempt for his kind and her burgeoning sexual desire. Lyrical, haunting, and unforgettable, Lore is a strikingly unique coming-of-age tale and an unforgettable look at the human legacy of the holocaust.

This movie is touching in so many ways, can't recommend it highly enough. One of the best ones I ever seen.

Good film but the filming was adequate, some times shots were too tight, story was interesting good story line, but I thought it could have been edited down a bit.. Dragged on in spots
  • Haunting and beautifully shot

a truly different view of WW2 survivors. we really think of the non-Jewish German children and their experiences. The cinematography was intriguing. I predict the male and female lead will become well-known from this movie. The style of the movie reminds me of my fave foreign film "After the Wedding"

Very interesting and sobering story line with great acting and cinematography. Story told from viewpoint and experiences of the children of an upper class Nazi family left on their own in the days following the fall of the 3rd Reich (late 1945). Made me wonder if the scars left with these children in the aftermath of WWII were any different than those felt by their parent's generation following WWI.

Boring art flick. Took too long with arcane shots of people at weird angles. Lots of unexplained behavior. I give it a 4 for subject matter only.

Very good...really enjoyed it. Subtitles were easy and filmography was at times stunning, abstract, and beautiful. As some have said, it gives a unique story about the fall of Germany, and how it affected a real life family of that time. The realization of the horrible Jewish genocide that was occuring at that time was unknown to most Germans and when it was exposed, many could not accept it. The hardship of those left behind to survive is also portrayed.

I watched this movie twice because It was that good! A young child's mind is formed and fashioned by parent's, and when parent's are deceived this deception trickles down to the young impressional minds that are looking up to them. I do love this based on a true story of a 14 year old girl, who in real life was really 12 at the time and her courage to survive.
