Description

Now on Digital HD. From the directors of Little Miss Sunshine comes an engaging and charming romantic comedy starring Paul Dano and writer-actress Zoe Kazan. Struggling with writer’s block and a lackluster love life, once-famous novelist Calvin (Dano) creates a beautiful fictitious character named Ruby (Kazan), who inspires him. But not only does this bring his work to life – it also brings Ruby to life – literally! Face-to-face with an actual relationship with his once-virtual girlfriend, Calvin must now decide whether to pen this love story or let it write itself. Also starring Annette Bening, Antonio Banderas and Elliott Gould, Ruby Sparks is an inspired coming of age story that proves true love can be magical.

This film was incredibly creative and deep at the same time. It tells a lot about relationships and how we all deal with them.,,had this totally awakening moment right after watching this film.

There wasn't one likable character in this movie. Nothing they did was heroic, humorous, or redeeming. Modern romance movies that lack any heart or true romance are nothing but Shakespearean tragedy in disguise. Save your time and watch an Indy film like Safety Not Guaranteed. Much more rewarding story telling.

Of all the movies I have ever seen, this has been the best. After watching this movie it will be hard to get it out of your mind.

When I read the reviews here I feel like people will put this movie in the same category as Eternal Sunshine and the like. While these are good moves, they do not do this justice. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen and a perfect romantic comedy. Don't skip this movie. It's, like the title of this review says, amazing.
  • Why rent this, when you can BUY IT!!?

I'm very disappointed in the fact that I choose to rent this movie, instead of buying it! Ruby Sparks is a must watch, it's originality miraculously has your wheels of imagination turning the whole time never really knowing where the story was going but don't worry there's no "cheesy love story ending". It's realistic but charming.
  • This Is that Kind of Movie They Stopped Making a Long Time Ago...

I have to say that Ruby Sparks for me was greatly anticipated due to its relatable themes of love and the written word. From beginning to end I only found disappointment in the heartaches and tribulations of the characters. The writing in this film is unbelievable, a story of fantasy tainted with the harsh concepts and bitter truths of reality. It shows that love is great, but is not perfect. The witty satire that lightly accompanies makes this film one of the best I have seen in years. Well done, I hope to see Zoe Kazan continue to write for American Cinema for many more years to come; she truly understands the value and importance of a good story.

I cannot fully describe the way that this movie moved me. I know that people in their late twentys would see this movie and have more in common with it than a thirteen year old girl but my prerogative to feel the way I did previous to watching this movie has been utterly abrogated. It was remarkable.
