Description

MSP’s latest triumph, “Attack of La Niña,” chronicles the deepest North American winter in recent history. This new film follows in the footsteps of “The Way I See It,” MSP’s 2010 release and the most decorated ski movie of all time. “Attack of La Niña” showcases the talents of today’s best skiers in a journey through the snowiest winter of their lives. This action-packed film – captured using the most state of the art camera equipment available – demonstrates the limit of what is possible in modern freeskiing. Featuring super steep descents, unbelievably deep powder, and giant airs, “Attack of La Niña” will transport you to Colorado, Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, California, and many other world-class destinations. *** INCLUDING THE EXCLUSIVE SEAN PETTIT BONUS PART! ***

pretty lame… only part worth watching was cooly's and sean's, but it was otherwise a pretty boring and dull ski movie. grand bizarre was much more enticing without a doubt

I saw this movie when I was in Missoula, MT. I had expected great things from the looks of the trailer and Matchstick delivered. The soundtrack was excellent and the queueing of the clips to the music was superb. Attack of La Niña definitely made my top 5 movies of 2011.
  • Misleading title: nothing to do with epic snow year

Big disappointment. The title is a tease for those looking for story about 2011 epic winter. Nowhere to be found in film. Instead, despite expected excellent skiing shots, too much goofy extemp by skiers off-slope with nothing to say and embarrassing stupid fluff. Glimpse off-slope into personality of skiers is silly and trivial, not entertaining, not relevant to anything, least of all skiing. Shows like home movie that should have been edited. Segment showing MTV-like off-snow weirdness of one skier going through dancing gyrations is embarrassing and calls into question motive of film? Make money by misleading consumers into thinking the year of great snow has been captured in film. It wasn't, not in this film. Reselling vid. Oh, and sound track terrible.

I saw this in Beaver Creek, CO on one of the tour stops. Although in a theater like that, the crowd can feed to your positive viewing pleasure, I was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, this was a great film with Petit, Abma, Windstedt and crew all rock out with some amazing lines and tricks, but it just wasn't the same Wow that I had with last year's "The Way I See It." I think as another reviewer said, it has to do partly with mediocre music and mediocre shot selection and angles. Still great but not as good as the last film.

I've been anxiously waiting for the arrival of this film on iTunes (given that I'm in Southern California and we rarely get tour stops here) and I have to say, I was a little disappointed after how good last years was. Last year's "The Way I See It" was phenomenal, and one of my favorite ski films of all time. I think one of the things that made it so good was the soundtrack, almost every song that was in the film I loved, but with Attack of La Nina, there was only 1 or 2 songs that I liked. I definitely believe music is a huge part of any movie, but especially ski movies. And the story was a bit lacking also. With the title Attack of La Nina, and the promotion of it based around how epic last years storms were, there ended up being no real story about it at all. Also, many of the locations in this film were the same in last years film, such as Meadows Lodge. While they are awesome locations, it seems like it'd be nice to see new places too. Anyway, despite all my complaints, I always enjoy watching ski movies and I still love MSP and very much look forward to next years film!

The video quality wasn't that good like last year. The story lacked as well. The price went up.

Very, very cool, great ski video, I’m obsessed with Matchstick productions, You guys are great, I study Art in New York and would love to intern with you one day, just worried that Red Bull Media has an edge on you guys, The Art of Flight, im not a snowboarder, strictly a skier but those guys have their stuff together. Any how i love the new film, can’t wait till next year.
