Description

A wealthy, precocious and loving child is raised in India, but sent away to a New York boarding school by her beloved father when he must go off to war. But when he is declared "missing in action," daddy's little princess, alone and penniless, must use her inner resources of warmth, imagination and principles to overcome hardship. Based on the beloved Victorian-era novel by Frances Hodgon Burnett, and adapted by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Richard LaGravenese ("The Horse Whisperer," "The Bridges of Madison County"). Starring Liesel Mathews ("Blast," "Air Force One"). The Hollywood Reporter calls this "a buoyant and charming adaptation... a magical celebration of one young girl's resilient spirit and triumph in the face of calamity." Variety calls it "an astonishing work... an exquisite, perfectly played serious fantasy... a children's film that plays equally well to kids and adults."

This is a movie that all little girls should watch the way that Sara is nice to the girls at the school is good and how she is nice to Becky who is a servent girl even as she has dark skin and how she is still nice even when she is told her dad is dead and she has to become a servent at the school and I love the acting and the end of the movie.

My daughter got a book set for her birthday and this was one of the books in it. She finished it one day and came running to me to tell me that she was done with the book. I asked her if she wanted to see the movie and she said yes. So I turned this on for her and cooked up some popcorn. When I glanced over at her during the movie to see how she was doing, she looked enchanted. When it was done, she said, “I loved that movie, Mom! I loved Sara!’’ Can’t recommend enough. 😃

My son loved this one growing up, and now my daughter can't be pulled away from it. A great re-telling of a Shirley Temple classic movie.
