Spoiler Warning So this movie tells the story of Aron Ralston, a man who became trapped in a desolate Utah canyon after a falling rock crushed his arm. He spent 127 hours trapped in the canyon before freeing himself by severing his own right arm with a small, dull knife. This movie taught me a lot of important lessons that will stick with me for the rest of my life. -Firstly, it taught me that life is short and you need to appreciate every little thing in life, because you never know what could come along and ruin everything, or threaten your life. -Second, it taught me that you’re going to need help along the way in your life, and you can’t or shouldn’t expect to go through life completely on your own. You will need help. -Third, it taught me that in life you have to make sacrifices, big or small, for the greater good. Such as him amputating his arm, if he didn’t would have remained pinned to the canyon wall and died. -Finally, it taught me that everything is unexpected. You can never predict what’s going to happen in your life, and you can never fully be prepared for what’s to come. Overall, this movie was an absolute masterpiece with great cinematography, a fantastic performance by James Franco, and a great story/lesson. I highly recommend this movie to EVERYONE.
  • Modern day hero?

Main character puts himself in an unnecessarily dangerous situation doesn’t tell anyone where he is going and has to saw his arm off with a multi-tool to escape. Causes great distress to his family and friends while taking up valuable space in a hospital. Selfish adrenaline junky. Not my definition of a hero.

A good movie about a real-life event. Franco does a great job.
  • Boring

As compelling as Aron Ralston's story is, I was wondering how someone could turn it into a full-length motion picture, considering that he spends most of it stuck in one place. The answer is to bore the viewer with a lot of dream and flashback sequences. This is a B movie at best.
  • Great performance!

Best paired with Gus Van Sant's 2002 movie "Gerry" -But I was distracted by wondering what lesson J. Walter Weatherman would glean from these films... Not to be flip, but the story behind "127 Hours" is nearly miraculous.
  • Well directed and well acted!

This may be James Franco's best performance of all time! Some people may be weary of watching a movie of a single "character" trapped in one location for 2 hours (Like The Box) but let me assure you that every minute of this movie is interesting and tense.

No other movie has affected me in such a positive way. It changed my entire outlook on life. I'm way beyond blessed that this movie came into my life when it did.
