  • Cinemascope 55!

Based on the trailer, Apple got it right this time. I'm old enough to have seen this in a real movie theatre and even as a kid I remember being awed by that super wide screen Cinemascope 55 presentation! It was also in multi channel sound (more than two) but I don't know if that feature has been retained. In any event, there do not appear to be any cut off sides and the picture quality looks decent enough so here goes anoth $15 to Apple.

This movie guts me every time. The connection between these two characters is palpable and the music takes it over the top. I grew up watching this and other Rogers and Hammerstein musicals but this story will always be my favorite.

This was recommended to me by the Nostalgia Critic, and I'm so glad I checked it out! It's infinitely better than any other versions (ESPECIALLY the disney animated version) and I encourage anyone and everyone to watch it.

I am only twenty-three years old, but I can remember sitting around with my grandmother and watching this when I was a little girl. I miss those days and am so happy I found this movie on iTunes. Thank you, Apple, for at least offering this :)

I remember the first time I saw this movie. I could not stop singing the song "Shall We Dance" for a week. I was so entranced by it. Aside from the role originally played by Gertrude Lawrence, Deborah Kerr did a fabulous job if not better in the role of Anna Leonowens. It truly is one of Rodgers and Hammersteins greatest achievements in musicals. I encourage anyone who is in musical theatre to see this because of the spectacular production and character portrayl of the king by Yul Brynner.
