Good remake of an original that I've never seen. Contrary to the listing, the movie audio is in mixed Japanese and English. The Japanese characters speak Japanese to each other and English with everyone else. There are permanant English subtitles, and no subtitle tracks. The lack of Japanese subtitles for English conversation limit the movie's use as a langauge teaching tool.

I liked the quirks of this movie, and If you have seen the original and want more, I found this to be a good time. But the reality is the original Sideways was a very good, arguably impossible-to-improve movie.
  • A very pleasant surprise!

I had read an article about the making of the film a while back and thought I'd see how it turned out. I didn't know what to expect when my wife and I rented it. We were very pleasantly surprised. Don't think it's just a remake of Sideways. It's a film that stands completely on its own. Beautifully shot and well directed. There are no big stars in it but it's very much worth checking out. I would def see it again.

I wouldn't say it's better than the original but it's ok. I would rate it 68 on the Rotten tomatoes scale. It's not going to win any awards and it's certanly not original but worth a go.
