Description

In 1974, a misguided 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office. Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. With an intelligent, provocative and stylized approach, "Bronson" (based on a true story) follows the metamorphosis of Mickey Peterson into Britain's most violent prisoner, Charles Bronson.

An odd, disturbing and absolutely mesmerizing movie. Tom Hardy is an acting tour de force with an Oscar caliber performance as British convict Michael ‘Charlie Bronson’ Peterson.

I enjoyed the film for the same reason I enjoyed films like A Clockwork Orange or Brazil or reading works of philosophy or political science, etc. It's because I find the authors, the stars of the show, are interesting and worthwhile company. I don't necessarily need some grandiose, clearly defined plot line. I think the human condition and the consideration thereof is worth something all by itself.
  • brilliant! I liked it personally, oh f¥

One of those films that come along once a decade. I could easily ply platitudes till one pukes. However, I shall leave it at that point where I believe it is mostly justly deserved, and that is to say that without the artistry Tom Hardy this film is inconceivable. *note this the first recorded usage of term artistry in conjunction with the trade of acting aside from referencing Brando, Daniel Day Lewis, or perhaps Dicaprio.

What makes this film worth the time to watch it is Tom Hardy's remarkable transformation into Charlie Bronson. An outstanding performance that showcases his talent.

Tom Hardy might just be the greatest actor of this generation. I can't even come up with the words to describe his performance in this movie... Just see it!!!

Great movie ... Tom Hardy is a true actor... He is so good, that I did not recognize him in other movies.... To me that's what makes a great actor..... you no longer see the actor.... You see the character he is portraying...... Too many actors carry the same mannerisms into other characters that they portray ... so you don't see the character , you only see the actor..... Great performance by Tom Hardy.....

Absolutely LOVED it. Awesome movie to dig into if something's riding your last nerve. Hardy delivered a superb performance and brought a dark sense of humor to Charlie. You don't know whether to laugh or cringe through most of it. And serrriously... Hardy is handsome as ever in this.
