I see homeless people in parks, on the streets, outside of shelters and I wonder - how did they get there? Who are they? Well Negroponte acted on what I had always wondered about. He found out a lot of interesting information about Maggie the homeless lady, but provided no meaningful followup on the more interesting revelations. If you are a student of psychology, sociology or social work there's nothing particularly gratifying in this film for you. If you are a friend or loved one of a mentally ill homeless person, there are no answers here if that's what you're looking for. It was pretty much a day in the life of an articulate, creative, well versed schizophrenic homeless woman.

Don't know why so many people gave this great ratings. You wait for something to happen the whole time, but nothing ever does. Just some schizo lady who ate too much acid in the 70s. The narrator's voice isn't even that great. Save the three bucks and go talk to a spun out w00k or your local homeless lady. Maggie is a dime a dozen.

What a glorious unaffected film ! I found it haunting and beautifully authentic. Maggie (Jupiter's Wife) lives in Central Park. While it might be tempting to consider this film a documentary on homelessness, Michel Negroponte, the film's creator, doesn't push this agenda. Instead we're able to discover Maggie without coaching. She is a bright, complex, fully formed woman with a mental illness that never completely subsumes her rational mind. Instead, we get to know and love Maggie on her terms as the film unfolds. While it's true that Maggie hears voices and struggles to remain functional, during the course of watching the film we come to admire Maggie's intelligence, her devotion to her family of stray dogs, and level of comfort with her surroundings Through it all, we see that much of who Maggie is and what she does helps her to come to terms with her checkered past. Michel Negroponte is a talented director and stunning filmmaker. This film deserves each of the impressive awards it has been given and more !! Both Maggie and the film come across as genuine and thoroughly appealing, lacking the tiniest bit of touching up for drama's sake--a real testimony to Negroponte's powerful ability to give his camera free rein to tell the story.

A startling look into the life of one of the USA's nameless and hopeless homeless. In a land of so much there is the throw away society - - her included. A wonderful and touching documentary that should make one look and listen - & help these unfortunates as we take our meals and comfort too lightly.
