Description

A real woman. A real story. A real triumph. In her Oscar-winning role, Julia Roberts stars as Erin Brockovich, a feisty young mother who fought for justice any way she knew how. Desperate for a job to support herself and her three children, she convinces attorney Ed Masry (Albert Finney) to hire her and promptly stumbles upon a monumental case against a giant corporation. Now Erin's determined to take on this powerful adversary even though no law firm has dared to do it before. And while Ed doesn't want anything to do with the case, Erin won't take "no" for an answer. So the two begin an incredible and sometimes hilarious fight that will bring a small town to its feet and a huge company to its knees.

Erin Brockovich is a fantastic story showing how evil big companies can be and how little they care about the people's lives they trample on to earn more of the almighty dollar. It is eye open to the real life practices of companies. Erin still fights for clean water for all. Follow her on social media and help. Water is the number 1 resource we can't live without.

I saw this on HBO mainly because I wanted something to lull me to sleep. What I got was Julia Roberts bringing to life this story of a real life hero who saved a ton of lives, and looking sexy as ever...just sayin. The script is very well written and Albert Finny is an excellent supporting cast member who really sticks out. Good movie and I’d highly recommend it

On the whole, a great film based on a true story. Engaging, entertaining, and fun despite the heavy storyline. Without the profanity, it'd be 5 stars in my book. As is, it is 4 stars.

I think this is one of Julia Roberts' best movies. It is a fascinating view of history about environmental damage, cover-up and clean-up and reveals the challenges for legal firms' who take on the big polluters. But, even if you are not an environmentalist, you have to love the story of how Erin takes her passion and skills and parlays them into significant impact for her family and children, the legal firms she works with, and American industry in general. Truly a compelling story of a real-life heroine.
  • Not quite the whole truth

Julia is good as usual and portrays the real Erin, who I have met, quite well, especially in the beginning with the foul mouth. While the movie makes great drama, it leaves out a great deal of facts and tells a story from a completely one sided view. It's one thing to tell a story, but quite another to leave out all the facts that make our Heroin Erin Brockovich seem to be the white knight. It leaves out the details such as Chromium 6 is only harmful when inhaled, not ingested, also that 6 becomes harmless 5 with as simple a thing as exposure to light. It also leaves out the fact that after the big win in court, the lawyers took the judges out for a few weeks on a first class cruise or that less then 10% of the total went to anyone but the lawyers. Yeah, it's a feel good movie and I would not have any beef with it if it were listed as fiction, but it portrays itself as fact, just not all the facts.

This is the best movie I've watched in a while. The acting is impeccable and the all around movie is amazing. It's a must-see.
