Description

Josh Harnett (Black Dahlia, Pearl Harbor) crosses over to the dark side in this bone-chilling adaptation of the cult-hit graphic novel, brought to the screen in all its demonic glory. In a small Alaskan town, thirty days of night is a natural phenomenon. Very few outsiders visit, until a band of bloodthirsty, deathly pale vampires mark their arrival by savagely attacking sled dogs. But soon they find there are much more satisfying thirst-quenchers about: human beings. One by one, the townspeople succumb to a living nightmare, but a small group survives...at least for now. The vampires use the dark to their advantage, and surviving this cold hell is a game of cat and mouse...and screams.

This has got to be the scariest vampire movie ever made. It always gives me the chills. The premise is so perfect. Whomever wrote it, got it so right.

This for me is one of the best Vampire movies I ever seen. It sets up the movie with locals in the most northern region of Alaska preparing for the annual 30 days of night. Some stay and others leave. It also becomes a target and the townspeople become the hunted. But, from opening sequence to the end it leaves you on the edge of your seat. It also leaves questions as to where they came from? Why they are hunting entire towns and are there more out there? This was awesome when I saw it on blue ray. The cold landscape adds to the bleak bloodbath that follows. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a vampire movie without any Hollywood love story strung on. 10 stars.

The vampire language was not a good idea, I mean when a new vampire is made do they have classes to teach them? Other than that good scary film.

I've seen every horror movie. This is believable and terrifying. It plays with the hide and seek fear and Josh is great. Under rated horror movie, a must see!

And this is coming from someone who doesn't usually watch horror films. I was a 1980s child who grew on "Nightmare on Elm Street" films and so now equates horror flicks with youth. "30 Days of Night" was one sophisticated movie though. It is worth the money.

The end of this movie is so stupid it really defies belief. Really a shame as the first 3/4 of the move was OK. This is just DUMB!

This movie was a sleeper, not very box office successful. However has quite a few great character actors such as Hartnett, Foster, George, the main antagonist Houston. I thoroughly enjoyed. Backdrop is great too since Alaska does have places where it stays dark for a duration as well as daytime. The sequel to this was not even worth watching the trailer it was terrible compared to this film. Definitely worth watching.

Campy? For sure. Red blood on white white snow? Points given. Not scary, nothing earth shaking. Won't do a thing a revolutionize the genre. Still fun. Folks act like this movie is the end of horror movies as we know them. Nah. It's just a decent vampire-ish flick.
