Description

Andrew Largeman (Zach Braff) returns to his hometown for the funeral of his clinically depressed mother, a journey that reconnects him with some of his past friends. Because the trip coincides with his decision to stop taking his powerful antidepressants, he also begins to reconnect with himself. A chance meeting with Sam (Natalie Portman), a girl also suffering from various maladies, opens up the possibility of rekindling emotional attachments, confronting his psychologist father, and perhaps beginning a new life.

Very sweet and real. Some people need to feel a bit less high or down. Just leveled.

Braff is perfect in this. His portrayal of a vulnerable, fractured human being going through the process of healing and reconciliation is among the most genuine performances in film. Portman is absolutely wonderful. While the ending is somewhat predictable, the emotional content of the journey to get there is enough to have one actually looking forward to what is in store. It is a sincere and surprisingly moving film. I wish it was offered in HD, is my only criticism.
  • Incredibly boring

A boring movie about nothing people doing nothing. From the reviews I kept waiting for something to happen, for something clever or insightful, or even dramatic to be said or done. But nothing. Nada. There wasn't even a plot. A complete non-entity of a film.
  • Really good

This was a well acted and really good movie, I personally love movies that are not about major events and blockbuster themes but about real life. Not major actors, which is a good thing not a bad thing.
