Description

Jo Stockton can only get to Paris to meet with the beatnik founder of "empathicalism" (a idea that implores you to "put yourself into others shoes" in order to 'empathize' with them) if she agrees to model a line of ultra-chic fashions for photographer Dick Avery. Paris provides the backdrop for this blend of Gershwin music and Givenchy fashion.

  • Audrey Hepburn!

Story of a normal girl turned into a fashion model who falls in love with the photographer who believes in her. It is a silly plot, the songs are uninspired, and Fred Astaire is way too old to play the love interest. But what makes this film stand out is Audrey Hepburn. She is stunning in every scene. The Paris picture shoot montage is worth seeing alone.
  • Hopefully not considered a musical!

Audrey Hepburn looked stunning and once again, one of the best actresses of all times, but her dancing skills leave a lot to be desired. I didn't find much chemistry between Fred Astaire and her. It looked to me that he was more focused on showing himself off than courting her. Not the best Hepburn film.

Pure perfection. Just like she is. All her movies are flawless.

Avedon's hand is worthy character in this film. Gorgeous in every frame and very modern for the time period. Hepburn, Thomas and Astaire are wonderful to watch! Its a hoot to see the fifties with such style.

Ok, we get it, Audrey Hepburn is cute and Paris is beautiful. Does that mean we can't have a real movie ?
  • My favorite movie

I really like Fred Astaire films. And I like Audrey Hepburn. But this film is not the best vehicle for either. The relationship between the two is not believable, the boy-gets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-gets-girl back scenes are flat and unconvincing. The songs are largely forgettable, with the exception of the title song and S'Wonderful. Their was no real wit or humor. Attempts at such were trite. It was interesting to see Hepburn dance and sing, although the dances with Astaire did not have the sizzle or wow factor as those with Rogers or others with whom Astaire has danced in other movies. I was glad when the movie was over, and I won't rent this one again.
