Description

From Oscar winner Cameron Crowe comes a potent blend of rock ‘n’ roll and classic romantic comedy. Orlando Bloom stars as Drew Baylor, a hot-shot designer whose life becomes completely unraveled when he loses his father and his job on one fateful day. En route to Elizabethtown to visit his family, Drew meets Claire (Kirsten Dunst). She’s beautiful, unstoppably positive, and just the gal to guide Drew on his journey back home and to teach him what it means to live and love along the way. Set against the backdrop of an incredible soundtrack, ELIZABETHTOWN is an amazing trip of love, loss and laughter.

I loved this film when My daughter took me to see it. She didn't enjoy it-she was too young, but I did. It's a gentle film that reaffirms the inherent goodness in people, and how we can affect others positively. Kindness and caring matter. The most important impacts on your life come from people and everyone is worth knowing. It captured real people and real places. For example, when Orlando Bloom parks his rental car and opens the car door, you suddenly hear the bugs, just like actually happens on a hot summer day in Kentucky. He steps out of the car and you feel him being hit with the blast of hot air as soon as he steps out of the car. We've all been there. The film shows how quickly people can connect and how deep those connections can be. I've seen it. It happened at a party I gave. A guy friend walked in, sat down next a girl friend. They'd never seen each other before and as the night went on the rest of us just disappeared for them, though we were still there, making tons of noise. They are still happily married. Plus the music is well-chosen and all good.

My friend said that this is one of her favorite movies...yet she didn't know why. Instant sell, right? No. I actually had less-than-average expectations for this movie. But I ended up loving it! It is a great feel good movie (towards the end, the beginning might leave you feeling depressed), so if you want a good, heart-warming, lift-your-spirits-up type movie, watch this one.

This is about second chances and discovering what is important in life. I thought it was cool when they used Bloom's character's traveling to illustrate the slow changes occurring inside him. Kirsten Dunst is a great spiritual guide. I really liked this one. Once again I disagree with the critics, who are often wrong.....ie Home Alone cough cough...they panned it...cough smirk.

This movie keeps getting better each time I watch it. It's one of those films that's not exactly what you expect and that can be confusing or annoying to people- but if you have ever experienced loss and redemption this film really speaks to you. I believe that Kirsten Dunst is actually an angel sent to guide Orlando Bloom through his journey. If you watch the movie closely you will see all of the signs pointing to this and Cameron Crowe actually admitted it was what he was going for in an interview years ago. Watch the movie with that in mind. Also there are a lo of biblical references. It's a movie about life, hope and second chances.

This is one of my top favorite movies alongside Almost Famous, Good Will Hunting, and Finding Forrester. I'm not sure why they ripped on this movie. I live in LA, but I'm from small town NH and love to watch this movie periodically for nostalgic reasons. It makes me miss the simplicity of life that I grew up in. It also reminds me that the most important things in life are relationships, not careers and dreams. I hope at my funeral I can say I have half that amount of people there that I've been friends with. Love the movie.

Worst movie ever. Don't waste your time on this one. SLOW plot that never picks up speed. Disappointing right until the end. Wouldn't have given this any stars if the computer would have let me.
