I've watched almost every other version out there, and this is by far my favorite. The acting is superb! Ralph Fiennes gives a truly emotional perfomance as Heathcliff. Combine that with a haunting musical score, and you have a winner. For anyone who wants a "faithful to the book" version... this is the movie to see.

This movie is beautiful, that's really the best word to describe it. Chills, tears and maybe a smile or two, all things considered.

Do not waste your money on this modern version. It will put you to sleep. The 1939 version has more spunk.

Ryuichi Sakamoto's soundtrack is incomparable- hauntingly beautiful. If you love tortured love stories and Ralph Fiennes-I envy that you get to see it for the first time. Pop some popcorn, sit back and take it all in- scenery, score, Ralph and much more.

As you can see, many of the reviews on this movie say it is terrible and you should watch the earlier adaption. Having not yet seen that adaption, I can't say whether or not it is better than this one, but I do really like this version. Beautiful scenery and a lovely score, this movie is worth watching. And although it did not remain quite as faithful to the book as I would have liked, it was still very enjoyable to watch. That's the problem with many movie adaptions. You can't get all the details when you condense a long book into less than 2 hours. However, I think this version is very well done and if you get past all that is left out from the book, you will enjoy it too.

I agree with many that the 1939 is the better of many adaptation's. Although nothing will ever compare to the book. Unlike today's authors and popular book( Twilight, Harry Potter...) Emily Bronte and her sister Charlotte wrote books that were never going to be made into film franchise(although WH is obviously not a series). The best adaptation of Wuthering Heights is the images going through your mind while you read the book. I'm all for film adaptation's of any book, but they never do the novel any justice.

I thought this movie was wonderful. I find Heathcliff and Catherine beautifully acted by Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche. The story is both haunting and moving. It is tragic how they create their own miseries.
