Description

Reeling from the unexpected death of her husband, Beth (Rebecca Hall) is left alone in the lakeside home he built for her. She tries as best she can to keep it together, but then nightmares come – disturbing visions of a presence in the house calling to her, beckoning her with a ghostly allure. Against the advice of her friends, she begins digging into her husband’s belongings, yearning for answers. What she finds are secrets both strange and disturbing – a mystery she’s determined to unravel. Along with Rebecca Hall (Holmes & Watson, Christine), The Night House stars Sarah Goldberg (Barry), Vondie Curtis Hall (Die Hard 2, Eve’s Bayou), Evan Jonigkeit (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sweetbitter), and Stacy Martin (Vox Lux, Nymphomaniac).

Rebecca Hall is an incredible actor. This film is very well done. I highly recommend watching with a good surround sound system and be sure to have the volume up. The “scares” in the film are so well done, each one is thought out and not put in as a cheap jump scare. I’ve never experienced the ways the director uses the camera, lighting, sound, set, actors in such unique ways to create something authentically terrifying. The plot itself is truly disturbing, this is one of those “horror” movies that deserved award season recognition.

Definitely an underrated gem that flew under everyone’s radar but I think this movie is amazing. Rebecca Hall effortlessly carries this film on her back and the film itself is very slick and has a cool premise that turns things on it’s head. Worth a watch if u need to scratch that horror itch

This movie is carried along by the solid acting and interesting screen presence of Rebecca Hall. Unfortunately, for me, everything that been developed unwound in a disappointing finale at the end.

Rebecca Hall is a great actor. Writers are reminding us of how much we don’t know about death.
