Description

A modern Western inspired by the real-life "no man's land" areas along the Texas-Mexico border. While out on a father-son border patrol, Jackson accidentally kills a Mexican immigrant boy. When his father tries taking the blame, Jackson flees south on horseback, becoming a gringo "illegal alien" in Mexico. Pursued from either side by Texas Rangers and Mexican federales, he journeys across Mexico to seek forgiveness from the dead boy's father only to fall in love with the land he was taught to hate.

Jake Allyn has come into his own with this role, not because he wrote the character, but because he became the character. The story is essentially a quest. In the beginning it seems as if Jackson is running away from punishment, while in fact he is running to redemption. It was artfully filmed. The entire cast portrayed their parts to perfection. This film captures the essence of a true "Western" drama.
  • What a surprise! Great watch, great date night movie!

This movie was a great surprise and didnt take any of the easy off ramps that these types of movies often do. No contrived love story in the middle of a escape story, no perfect aim shots fired by inexpereinced villians--- its just so real! A lot of the commentary on this movie has been about the political elements of this movie. People have been reviewing the story here on the basis of the angle the filmmakers took; and what I love about this movie is that the angle they took was to be balanced. Sure, it may not be easy for us to sit and watch or even empathize with the other side of such a heated immigration debate but the reality is that its important for us to do that. The movie was interesting. It was a fun watch with moments of sadness and moments of laughter in unexpected moments. It was a fun Saturday night watch and I highly recommend!

Like often, I donโ€™t agree with the โ€œexpertโ€ reviewers. This movie was very good. The story had meaning and emotion. As happens often, when people learn more about other people and cultures, understanding happens! I recommend this one.

Following a story of a boy and his grave mistake, "No Man's Land" leads us deeper and deeper into a point of no return, shedding light on the darness it's casted on two differing families. The performances between Allyn and Grillo did justice to it's nuanced themes, and its grit was captured beautifully.

Being from South Texas, the story is very relatable. Such a powerful movie. You feel for both sides. It was well written and directed. The characters are spot on. I cried a few times throughout. I rate this a must watch!!!
