Description

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of The Godfather: Part III, director/screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola brings a definitive new edit and restoration of the final film in his epic Godfather trilogy—Mario Puzo’s The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), now in his 60s, seeks to free his family from crime and find a suitable successor to his empire. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hope of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence. The film’s meticulously restored picture and sound, under the supervision of American Zoetrope and Paramount Pictures, includes a new beginning and ending, as well as changes to scenes, shots, and music cues. The resulting project reflects author Mario Puzo and Coppola’s original intentions of The Godfather: Part III, and delivers, in the words of Coppola, “a more appropriate conclusion to The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II.”

There are no words to adequately explain what a steaming pile of garbage this film is. Just wow
  • The first 2 is the best! Sofia ruined this one.

Why is Sofia Coppola in this movie? She’s a B actress who can’t act.

Not as good as the others but I still enjoyed it.
  • Only watch the original version.

Except for the love interest element between Andy Garcia’s character and Michel’s daughter I loved the original part three version. This re-edited version’s ending was horrible. It’s been a while since I watched the original part 3 so I didn’t notice any other obvious changes but I wouldn’t recommend this version to anyone.
  • New Edit is Better!

This new edit saves the movie! The original edit had this comical scene at the end where Michael Corleone fell out of his chair and dropped an orange. Didn’t really fit with the rest of the movie.

The pacing of this version of The Godfather Part 3 is a lot better than the original version. I’d much rather watch this version than the original cut.

Same movie. Looking for some thing new or different from the original. It isn’t there. I could have watched the one I own. Save your money.

I had high hopes for this and it looked promising in the beginning. First and most importantly to me, the picture quality is much improved, I’m not a fan of the picture quality for the trilogy. Also, a scene later in the movie was moved to the beginning and while it works I don’t agree with changing the opening, I think they should have just sorted the beginning differently and kept the stuff that was cut. Everything else is pretty much the same, I didn’t notice any changes until the ending. I feel they ruined the ending with the rather small change they used and it was unnecessary.

I’m a huge huge Godfather (and mafia genre) fan. For 30 years I never watched Godfather 3 due to the poor reviews. I’m not sure how Coda compared to the original and quite frankly I don’t care. This recut was fantastic and there were several jaw dropping moments for me. Plus it was a nostalgic look at Michael Corleone. Even Sofia Coppola, who’s acting people bashed, I thought was good. Highly recommend!!!!
