Description

Mary Queen of Scots explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart (Academy Award® nominee Saoirse Ronan). Queen of France at 16, widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry and instead returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. By birth, she also has a rival claim to the throne of Elizabeth I (Academy Award® nominee Margot Robbie), who rules as the Queen of England. Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth's sovereignty. Rivals in power and in love, the two Queens make very different choices about marriage and children. Betrayal, rebellion and conspiracies within each court imperil both Queens–driving them apart, as each woman experiences the bitter cost of power.

Another period piece savaged by SJW overlay. Actors did a fantastic job. Shame on the writers and directors.

Absolute nonsense. Historically inaccurate, feminist drivel. Under Elizabeth England experienced forty years of peace and prosperity, nicknamed "The Golden Age". Only an idiot would frame her as the villainess. Unbelievable waste of money that bares no resemblance to the truth.

I thought the movie was wonderful! I don't care about the accuracy, it's a movie! All movies are fiction. Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie both deserve Oscars. Their emotional performances kept me riveted. Both came across as strong women and I love that!

Don't waste your money. Terrible script, terrible acting just not worth it.

Mary Queen of Scotts’ director disregarded history just as Darren Aronofsky did use the Bible for Noah. There is so much artistic license and PC diversity casting as to make it worthless historically and unbearable to watch. They should have named it something else and ran it as a fictional series on Netflix.

Mary lived in France from age 5-18, but has a strong Scottish accent? Did the people who made this movie base it entirely on Google search overviews? Or are they trying to create a new case for "fake news" and "alternative facts"? Come on, try harder.

Attempt at re-writing history to be relevant today. Two good actors who were terrible and embarrassing to watch. Not for any person seeking the fascinating history of this relationship and time; instead this is a facade that has a b movie look and d movie screenplay.

I don’t understand all the negative reviews. This movie is so entertaining to watch. Margot Robbie is the best!

    1. Queen Mary's husband was King Philip of Spain, not Henry Dudley. 2. Queen Mary was not tolerant to all beliefs at all. She executed numerious protestants, and that is how the nickname "Bloody Mary" came from. Still loved the film, costume, acting, historic sciences. So just one star.
