Description

Hailed as "the best animated feature of 2017" (IndieWire) and "nothing short of exceptional" (Variety), The Breadwinner is an inspiring and vibrantly animated tale about the power of stories to sustain hope and carry us through dark times. Parvana is an 11-year-old girl growing up under the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001. When her father is wrongfully arrested, Parvana cuts off her hair and dresses like a boy in order to support her family. Working alongside her friend Shauzia, Parvana discovers a new world of freedom – and danger. With undaunted courage, Parvana draws strength from the fantastical stories she invents as she embarks on a quest to find her father and reunite her family.

Was not expecting to be wowed. Thought it would be a good story to pass the time. I was wrong. Both the animation and the story were very well done and we all enjoyed it a lot.

I’m glad Rotten Tomatoes pinned it FRESH. I can’t believe the box office only made a scraping compared to the film’s budget.
  • Cool but violent

I loved this movie but just a bit there I didn’t understand like for 3 seconds THEN understand the movie. I was thinking about that weird cartoon about those ducks who gives bread and dance inappropriately (not the best kids show about ducks shaking there butts, MY BROTHERS WATCH IT!)

I have never written a movie review before, but I felt this animation warranted one. The story itself was a breath of fresh air, and easily one of the best films I have seen in a while. Yes it is an animation, but that doesn’t take an ounce away from making it a powerful film.
  • Great but not the best for Kids

Wonderful but the blood violence and use of knives etc might be a little much for kids. Maybe in the world today it is good for them to see how harsh life can be and how bravery helps?
