It's one of those movies where, if it hadn't been done just right, it would have been a disaster. But the filmmakers really put their thinking caps on and delivered a smart, clever mystery with a great twist and satisfying conclusion. Highly recommended!

I don't understand all the 4/5 star reviews. This movie had bad acting, a slow, mediocre storyline, and a random and unexciting "twist". I had to watch in two sittings because I could not get all the way through in one.

I really liked where this movie went. It made me sad when the plot twist should have creeped me out. Very interesting idea. I guess a clean slate means a totally different person in this case...
  • Excellent. A proper story, well told

Think Twilight Zone and related shows. A very clear, very well-thought-through story told simply and with solid craft. Good acting, good work in general. A really good Canadian film (with typically-Canadian reserve). This isn't Guardians of the Galaxy (also a great film!), but a modest-budget film that delivers by making good choices and good sense. Well done, all!
  • Solid performances; great twist

Radius starts with an intriguing sci-fi hook - a man with amnesia who encounters death at every turn caused by seemingly unnatural forces. As the movie progresses, the sci-fi aspect (which is only briefly explained towards the end) takes a back seat to the much more intriguing journey of the two main characters (Liam, played by Diego Klattenhoff and Jane, played by Charlotte Sullivan) as they rediscover and confront who they really are and what their mysterious connection is. The first third of the movie moves slowly, but the deliberate pace allows the audience to connect with Liam as he slowly comes to realize why death literally radiates around him. Diego Klattenhoff gives a deeply emotional performance that highlights Liam's inner struggle with coming to grips with who he really is and how he relates to those around him. He and Charlotte Sullivan - who is the one person seemingly immune to Liam's death radius - have fantastic chemistry that takes the audience on an emotional roller coaster ride along with them. The last third of the movie moves rapidly, culminating in a surprise ending with several twists. Most of the payoff is in the last minutes of the movie, which need to remain unspoiled, but it's very much worth the wait. Those who have enjoyed Diego Klattenhoff on the The Blacklist and in Homeland will not want to miss this movie. He makes Liam relatable and that makes the ending of the film that much more poignant. Ultimately, the film was less sci-fi and more a psychological thriller about identity. How much of our identity is innate? How much is formed by our relationships with others? Kudos to Steeve Léonard and Caroline Labrèche for tackling these questions in such a unique and interesting way. While the film was clearly limited in budget, that kept the focus on the characters of Liam and Jane and in the end, nothing more was needed to tell their story other than the outstanding performances by both actors.
