Ok, first of all it outright angered me and somewhat soured the entire movie for me when they retconned Jack’s compass as well as other established canon. Jack got the compass from Calypso not from another pirate and he also has given it to other people before multiple times without unleashing undead pirates. That whole plot makes no sense. I mean another plot conundrum for me is why would Carina be looking for a supernatural item when she doesn’t believe in the supernatural? Wouldn’t looking for a nonexistent item be a fool’s errand? The only plot point that makes sense is Will’s son trying to break his father’s curse… except while I understand his reasoning somewhat the curse is what keeps his father alive. With the curse broken considering he was stabbed through the heart Will should have died. In connection to that Will is shown to be becoming part fish like Davey Jones yet that supposedly only happened because Jones wasn’t doing his job. Another thing that made the movie somewhat bad from the beginning for me is how cursed with bad luck and just pathetic Jack is shown to be. Part of what made Captain Jack Sparrow… Captain Jack Sparrow was his amazing luck. He just wasn’t the character we know and love in this movie. I also felt like the romantic pairing was unnecessary yet I don’t suppose it necessarily hurt either. In the end the plot is terrible and the characters aren’t very likable.

This is one of those few movies where you don't want to take the critics word for it. Pirates of the Caribbean is like Transformers - the critics don't like them too much but the audience does. Remember, Disney puts everything into their pirate movies. This movie was good and funny. I thought the special effects were very nice and you can tell they tried to make this movie well- the cinematography is A+. We love Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa. The new cast was cute! The new girl was just my favorite. Even though Keira Knightely (Elizabeth Swann) was only in the movie for 30 seconds those 30 seconds helped make the movie for me. Pirates just isn't the same without her. If you liked the first 4 you will like this one too! Stay for the post credit scene!

Javier Bardem was great as Salazar and made the movie really good. Great acting by him and a scary character. One of the best movies of the series.

POTC 5 is a decent movie It's better than On Stranger Tides, but that’s about it. I like the performances from Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, and Geoffrey Rush. The characters were good, but Jack Sparrow wasn’t as good of a protagonist as he is in the first 3 movies. It’s great seeing Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann again, even if it’s for a brief period of time! It’s not as good as the OG Trilogy, but it’s better than On Stranger Tides. 6.5/10

I thought this movie was really good but I felt like there wasn’t enough jack sparrow but I loved the story and the characters and I liked the return of Elizabeth and will and the barbossa death was pretty sad and that’s how I think of it

This is the weakest out the franchise but Johnny Depp does a excellent job playing Jack Sparrow a goofy character that won't be forgotten. Dead Man Tell No Tales is a miss the mark movie it dosen't make any sense disney should pay me roght now.
  • By far the worst one

And I thought they couldn’t make one worse than “On Stranger Tides”. Perhaps Jerry Bruckheimer forgot what made the first three films good. I thought visually this was fantastic. Great cinematography, visual effects and even practical effects. The performances weren’t bad, either. However I really hated that this one tried to copy the first one instead of writing a new story. It’s way too formulaic and generic in this movie. I like that they finally brought back Will and Elizabeth, but their roles are so minor and this movie even undoes the emotional arc for the two in At World’s End. Sad.
