Description

Plumb Marigold is a famous but lonely distance runner preparing for the biggest race of her life: The Olympic Trials. But when an injury forces her to take an unexpected day off, Plumb wanders into a bakery where the aimless boy behind the counter catches her eye. In this story that captures the experience of a young Olympic hopeful, many of the actors are actual Olympic athletes -- including co-writer/director and lead actor Alexi Pappas.

Off beaat rom com of a professional 21 year old runner who is inexperienced in everything but running. The acting is not so great but the characters are interesting and engaging. Innocent and somewhat enjoyable.

I have been waiting for a long time to watch this film, and it was well worth the wait. I am glad I purchased instead of rent because I will be watching this numerous times, especially before races.

At first I was a little skeptical of this movie but then as I got further into the movie it got really good and heartwarming, I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who likes cute movies like this
  • Delightfully Authentic

Written, Directed, Produced, and Starring an actual Olympic runner, she went all-in to depict what it feels like from the inside, rather than what it looks like. Every little touch is so authentic as to almost qualify as a documentary, but with the right balance of self-deprecating humor and personality.
  • A glimpse into a world you probably know nothing about

Worldbuilding is difficult, yet this beautiful movie does it with ease, transporting you to the runners Mecca of Eugene, OR. It's become a cliche to say the city in which the movie is based is its own character, but in this case, it certainly is. Watch to see a peak into a world you probably know nothing about, and you will be pleasantly surprised. Alexi Pappas is a star, and Andy Buckley is so warm and authentic as the father figure. Highly recommend!
  • Main character is off

Strange scenarios which lead to unaddressed drama. A ton of missed opportunities to develop the character. Results are a convoluted mix of themes and an unclear premise. Is the girl mentally competent or not? Is that boy assaulting a intellectual 12 year old? What is happening?

Poorly written and the acting is silly and stiff. The main actress is nearly impossible to watch. Just bad.

Horrid acting - Terrible script! Reminded me of a crappy TV series from the seventies. Don’t expect to see hardly any running but a lot of pouting from the main character.

Strong writing, fresh acting, a whimsical and highly entertaining film. Can't wait to see what Pappas and co. do next! So much talent. Stop scrolling - you've found your...sole mate. Well worth a watch!
