Description

REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM is the definitive discourse with Noam Chomsky, widely regarded as the most important intellectual alive, on the defining characteristic of our time - the deliberate concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a select few. Through interviews filmed over four years, Chomsky unpacks the principles that have brought us to the crossroads of historically unprecedented inequality - tracing a half-century of policies designed to favor the most wealthy at the expense of the majority - while also looking back on his own life of activism and political participation. Profoundly personal and thought provoking, Chomsky provides penetrating insight into what may well be the lasting legacy of our time - the death of the middle class and swan song of functioning democracy. A potent reminder that power ultimately rests in the hands of the governed, REQUIEM is required viewing for all who maintain hope in a shared stake in the future.

Watching politics play out on the national stage, this movie gives it a voice. Understanding and educating yourself, regardless if you agree, is very important. This movie is a perspective. I almost feel like Chompski is like the oracle from The Matrix.

Chomsky has mellowed. With great wisdom he succinctly explains, step by step, how we got where we are today.

This documentary like all other expositions of Chomsky is eye-opening, life-changing and enlightening to say the least. Noam has no regard for political correctness he is the hero who arguments begin at the edges of hidden objective facts of history. Only the greatest of whistle blowers can catch the attention of Noam as the real critiques in media as every word of his composition is sung to the tune of whistles!

If one totally disregards Chomsky's myoptic view of the world and his rhetoric and view the film as simply a documentary, then I must admit it is a compelling work of its genre. Whilst he has influenced generations as a professor at M.I.T., his influence quickly fades in the face of the one unavoidable realty faced by those graduates; we all must work to live and not all of us are a 'Bill Gates'...or a.'Steve Jobs' for that matter.
  • Amazing!
