Description

"We Are Your Friends" is about what it takes to find your voice. Set in the world of electronic music and Hollywood nightlife, an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole (Efron) spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James (Bentley), who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James' much younger girlfriend, Sophie (Ratajkowski). With Cole's forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he is destined for.

I had such a good time watching this movie. The music was amazing but also had a great story without going over the top and getting right to the point. If you love electronica music or just love the camaraderie of a good friendship this movie is for you. You will not be disappointed!

If a review contains an exclamation point it is probably fake. If a review contains 2 or more exclamation points it is definitely fake.

Excellent movie, completely underrated. This movie proves how powerful music is constantly a creative outlet and always meaningful in our lives. I’m still obsessed years later! I love how each character came together with the love of music. Reminds me a lot of a modern day Saturday Night Fever. Lots of highs and lows of emotions for Cole, but the true grit of life experiences comes through in the end, where he took the love and pain and proved his passion. Not to mention one of my all time favorite soundtracks! Truly a must see in my opinion, especially if you are a major music lover!

Great eye candy and music but the story line is so regurgitated and cliché.

Very well done movie ... and especially for anyone that has that unsotppable soundtrack going through their heads.... For me, as I am older than most that will watch this movie, and I used to spin / mix vinyl back in my day ... I have had that "soundtrack" for most of my life and I love how he incorporated so many of his "awakening" moments into his music at the end!

I’m older than their target audience, but I’ve like a few movies Zac has done. This movie did move slow at first, but all in all it had a good message. In the end I liked it. And I use to roll back in the day so the part when he was tripping and seeing people becoming part of the art brought me back to my party days lol. Had me laughing cuz that’s exactly what It looks like when ur lost in the high.

Poor writing and direction make this feel like an extended version of some kid’s college video assignment.
