Description

After a long and explosive life in munitions, involving a number of the seminal moments and phenomena of the 20th century, including the Spanish Civil War, the Atomic Bomb, and Cold War espionage, Allan Karlsson finds himself - on his 100th birthday - stuck in a tranquil Swedish nursing home. Determined to escape the monotony, he hops out a window and kicks off a hilarious and unexpected comic-adventure by way of a stolen briefcase, a roughneck biker gang, and an escaped circus elephant named Sonya. Adapted from the runaway international best-seller, THE 100-YEAR-OLD MAN WHO CLIMBED OUT THE WINDOW AND DISAPPEARED is a charming, globe-trotting riff on world history and the highest-grossing Swedish film of all-time.

Slow motion comedy, like a series of train wrecks, explosions, crashes and spinouts. Different approach to antic comedy. How else could it be with an elephant and a 100-year-old man, $$50 million and a circus collection of clownish people. Entertaining.

This film is in fact two films. One an orgy of historical improbabilities, the other a sharp characterisation of Swedish white trash. Very funny.

This movie is great, no question about it. If you know a bit of history too you can enjoy so many scenes in the movie. It is unpredictable. Looking at its advertisement you would think it is a silly film but it is very well made.
